1. Mühle-Glashütte Rasmus 2000 (2,000 Meters)
The Glashütte-based brand developed this watch in collaboration with research scientists from the University of Rostock, Germany. The 44-mm stainless-steel case has an easy-to-grasp rotatable bezel and an inner case of soft iron to protect the movement against magnetic fields. It is water-resistant to 2,000 meters. 4. Rolex Deepsea Challenge (12,000 Meters)
Movie director James Cameron brought this watch along when he descended into the Mariana Trench in March 2012. The watch measures 28.5 mm in thickness and 51.4 mm in diameter. Thanks to a 14.3-mm-thick sapphire crystal and a reinforced titanium caseback, the watch’s steel case and in-house automatic Caliber 3135 inside survived the plunge, despite the fact that the Deepsea Challenge was strapped to an exterior gripper arm outside Cameron’s special submersible, which dove to a depth of 10,898 meters. According to the Deepsea Challenge’s specified level of water resistance, the watch could have kept functioning more than 1,000 meters farther below the surface to a depth of 12,000 meters. This watch is not for sale.
The 2021 America’s Cup will be the 36th edition of the prestigious race, and the third one for which Omega has served as timekeeper; Omega succeeds Panerai, the watch brand that timed the 35th America’s Cup in 2017. The timepiece that Omega has unveiled to commemorate the partnership hails from the Seamaster Planet Ocean collection, housed in sporty 43.5-mm steel case with a unidirectional rotating divers’ bezel — on this model, notable for its use of a blue ceramic ring and white-and-red liquid ceramic sector for the first five minutes of the scale, corresponding to the countdown to a regatta’s start. The polished, white ceramic dial features red and blue details on the hands and hour markers, a date window at 3 o’clock, and two subtle references to the America’s Cup: a transferred logo above the 6 o’clock position and the distinctive shape of the “Auld Mug” trophy used for the seconds hand’s counterweight.
The dial features the America’s Cup logo; the bezel has a five-minute countdown sector.

The America’s Cup logo also appears on the sapphire exhibition caseback in blue transfer. Beating behind that decorated caseback is Omega’s co-axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8900, with a 60-hour power reserve in two series-connected spring barrels. The self-winding movement is the first to receive Omega’s Master Chronometer certification, passing eight separate, rigorous tests over 10 days to meet standards for precision, endurance, and resistance to magnetic fields, as set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (METAS).
